Enfrenzied - Banishment of Sentient Miscreations

Enfrenzied -.jpg

Enfrenzied is a band that I’ve found on one of my deepdive Bandcamp dives. What immediately caught my eye was the artwork. Immediately recognizable that this is a Mark Cooper artwork. He is one of those artists where you immediately recognize the art from the artist. But back to Enfrenzied. I couldn’t find when the band has appeared on the scene so I will just go with 2024 because that is the year where this EP has been released. By looking at the artists, you will see that these are not some dudes playing brutal death metal. These are experienced guys that know what they are doing. The vocalist Bill Foster is even in Short Bus Pile Up, one (if not the first) brutal death metal band I’ve ever discovered. The drummer (Shane Elwell) is in a million bands but the ones I know are Flesh Consumed and Vaginal Bear Trap which both are awesome. With the guitar/bass player, I sadly have to say I don’t know any of the bands that he is playing in but I am sure that I will check out some of his projects. So lets dive in.

From the first second to the last one, Enfrenzied doesn’t hold back whatsoever. No fancy intro for the first track ‘Labyrinth Of Seething Horror’. What really caught my ear is that the bass is very clear in the mix. Very thick and clunky bass lines have been scattered throughout the first song.

What excites me that the sound Enfrenzied is producing is that of mid-2010 brutal death metal. The not-overly-technical style that would label them as technical brutal death metal but just enough to be called brutal death metal. To border that line is incredibly skillful. Bands like Suffocation did that exactly the same. During ‘Formless Abominations’, I’ve encountered a lot of Suffocation influences but not a straight copy of them which is always nice. I know it is generic to name a legendary band as Suffocation while describing a sound of a new band but I only see that as a compliment. There are a lot of bands that want to sound like the big bands but don’t manage to do so. However, while having their own sound and still drawing inspiration from other bands, Enfrenzied have done an amazing job with ‘Banishment of Sentient Miscreations’.

An EP with a lot of potential that needs to be heard by many (technical) brutal death metal fans and labels. Drawing inspiration from mid-2010 brutal death metal, Enfrenzied have unleashed an insanely creative EP with no holding back during (most of, looking at you ‘Mutation Passage’) the songs. Be sure to check out ‘Banishment of Sentient Miscreations’ by the Virginia brutal death metal band Enfrenzied.
