Terdor - Levi II

My first ever vinyl review! The guys from Terdor are experienced in the black metal scene and have released 2 demo's, 1 split, 1 Ep and 3 full length albums. Another underground gem in the dutch black metal scene. Levi II is of course a sequel to the previous released Levi I. This 4 track album contains beautiful artwork. When I approached the guys from Terdor, I immediately fell in love with the painting-like album cover and when I heard they released it on vinyl (and was affordable) I had no doubt but to buy it.
The first song is the title track 'Levi II'. It has an amazing piano intro which seems to prepare you for the mayhem that follows after it. Why? Because it has an evil vibe to it. When that ends, the black metal mayhem that follows is raw, pure and evil. The melodic riffs fit good and the painful cries of Lafawijn makes me shiver. The fast play of Terdor is melodic but also evil and creepy. It reminds me of other Dutch bands like Carach Angren and international bands like Dimmu Borgir. Then I realised that this song takes longer than the average black metal song which is like 4/5 minutes. The raw (what came to my mind) cryptic screams let people know that Terdor isn't a band without knowledge of professional use of their instruments. It all flows flawlessly into each other and never makes me have any abrupt surprises.
The last song of 'side A' is the song 'End Her Life'. It stays black metal and black metal never is perfect. This song is not perfectly mastered but however it has that something which makes you not to put this record of the pick-up. However the drums are more noticeable than the guitar and bass which kind of annoys me but the catchy timing and the basic blast beats Terdor produces makes me want to listen to this more and more.
Then there is 'side B'. This side contains the remaining 2 songs of the album and they are called 'Dr. Chicogneau' and 'De Nachtwreker'. The 3rd one is 'Dr. Chicogneau'. This song starts of slow. The vocals really stand out and they do it like they've been doing it for over 20+ years. The production is really good and this is really my favourite song of the album.
The last song of the album 'De Nachtwreker'. A song that ends before you know it. This 10 minute song does something that not many bands have done with me. Not wondering when it would end. It lets me want more and more. I'm sure that many more (black) metal fans know what I mean.
This band and album are an amazing combination. The professionality of Terdor makes me give Levi II a 8.5 out of 10.
