K.F.R. - Scriptures Of Death

K.F.R. is the main project, or was the main project of the mastermind of Maxime Taccardi. A French raw black metal genius who performs his art in many forms and projects. K.F.R. stands for KAFIR if I’m not mistaken. Maxime Taccardi gives us a compilation with tracks from 2014 up to 2016 and even a cover of Bathory ‘Satan My Master’.
The track list contains six tracks: Scriptures Of Death, Satan My Master, Under The Skin, Be The One, We Will Rise As Flames and Dies Irae.
Being a fan of most of Maxime’s work, I didn’t hold back the enthusiasm I had when I saw the announcement that Maxime put the demo work on his Bandcamp. I already knew that his last album called ‘O’ was going to be released and this would be the wrap up of his unreleased stuff.
Scriptures Of Death gives the audience that incredible haunting feeling from the beginning. It combines old school horror-ish ambient music with extremely raw black metal. The opening track gives you all that with the ‘familiar’ raw vocals of Maxime. The cover of Bathory is very well executed. Of course, it has the classic vibe of Bathory but Maxime gives it his own twist. His own demented twist to the already crazy song. ‘Under The Skin’ is the slowest song of ‘Scriptures Of Death’. Even with the fast pace black metal at the start of the song, ‘Under The Skin’ quickly turns into an old horror black metal vibe. ‘Be The One’. A completely different song compared to the others on ‘Scriptures Of Death’. The filthy ‘clean’ guitars give the base for this track full of eerie sounds and horrors.
And there we go, from the slowest song of the EP to the fastest one on the EP. ‘We Will Rise As Flames’ is the fast paced demon on ‘Scriptures Of Death’. The vocals of Maxime combined with all the instruments on this one are such an experience. The sounds that he produces is beyond imaginable. The twisted black metal mind of Maxime has been put to the test on this track for sure. ‘Dies Irae’. An epic ending to one of the most twisted and demented EP’s that I’ve ever heard in my life.
