Perilaxe Occlusion - Raytracing Of Death

This is the 2nd release that the old school death metal band Perilaxe Occlusion have released. Their previous demo was a 2020 release called 'Exponential Decay'. The HM22 fueled old school machine is back in 2021 with their latest demo 'Raytraces Of Death'.
The 22+- minute demo is just straight to the point old school death metal with no modern intentions whatsoever. Just take a look at that filthy cavernous rotten artwork you are being thrown at. That artwork just screams old school death metal. The sound that Perilaxe Occlusion presents us is nothing like the technical sci-fi old school death metal you expect bands do nowadays. It is an art today to make old school death metal feel like the death metal you would expect 'in the good ol' days'. Bands are trying to be the next Demilich or the next Asphyx.
Perilaxe Occlusion does make the exception to make a sound that is very easy accessible and interesting. The long drawn-out riffs do make you headbang from time to time but the small tempo changes during the song do make the sound of Perilaxe Occlusion very interesting.
What could be a thing for some fans of the older school of death metal is that the vocals aren't very upfront. They are really 'put in the back' and insanely dosed with a lot of reverb. It does however fit the whole sound of Perilaxe Occlusion. During the last song 'Geometric Dismemberment', the song structure you are 'familiar' with during 'Raytraces Of Death', get a big change. The song will feature more of a drawn-out atmospheric blackened doom vibe which I did not expect at all. It is something that I had to listen to for multiple times, not just for getting used to the song but also because the demo is really fun to listen too.
I think these guys are going to get signed to one of those old school death metal labels in the USA and get a big fanbase and probably end up at the Maryland Deathfest because it is one of those bands that will get a large fanbase if they make the right choices. What I am really looking forward too, is the full length of Perilaxe Occlusion. That could be a real interesting look into the future for Perilaxe Occlusion.
